Come to the public meeting on Dec 1 at 6:00 pm

DTSC will host a public meeting via Zoom on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 6:00 pm. You will have a chance to share your concerns that more testing and cleanup must be required before this project starts. Demand that DTSC determine what the risks are to our neighbors, workplaces, and Hillside Elementary. Demand that they investigate how far the toxic waste is traveling through the sewers. Demand that they require a thorough cleanup that removes as much toxic waste as possible, rather than leaving so much of it in the ground, like they are planning to do.

Write a letter to DTSC

If you are concerned, please write to the Department of Toxic Substance Control: jessica.swan@dtsc.ca.gov & luis.garcia@dtsc.ca.gov

Now that we know the neighborhood is at risk, demand that DTSC test areas off the property to make sure that the neighbors and Hillside Elementary are safe. Demand an investigation of the sewers, which may be carrying toxic waste into the community. Demand a more thorough cleanup than what the developers have proposed, which leaves much of the pollution in the ground, where it will continue to be a risk. That’s not acceptable! When you write, be sure to cite the address of this project - 141 W Avenue 34. They are reviewing public comments on this cleanup plan until December 20, 2021.
